Sea Otter Cottage Reviews

Really enjoyed our stay at Sea Otter Cottage! Very well equiped kitchen. Decent sized bedrooms with comfy beds and plenty of space to put clothes etc. The shower downstairs was fabulous! Nice little creel airer, handy for drying towels or wet coats etc. Lovely views from the cottage across the loch. We had everything we needed! Cherry, the owner of the cottage sent a welcoming text just before our visit and invited us to contact her if we needed anything a nice touch. Would stay there again, definitely!

We stayed here for Christmas. What a lovely cottage, so quiet and serene. It has everything you need and more. We had a lovely welcome basket too. The views are gorgeous. We sat in the bedroom window seats most nights watching the sun sets. The walk along the cycle route to The Hollytree Hotel is only a 10 minute walk. Take a torch if your walking at night as it's pitch black. If you walk the other way on the cycle route to North & South Ballachulish it takes roughly 5060 minutes. I'd definitely recommend a stay here.

Situated across the road from Loch Linnhe, the cottage is clean, well equipped and comfortable. Although on a main road, it is quiet, the garden backs on to the mountain behind and is not overlooked by other properties. On the outskirts of Ballachulish, it is well placed for visiting the beautiful Glencoe, and Fort William is only a few miles up the road. We would definitely visit again as we love the area.

The cottage is situated well for accessing outdoor attractions in the Glencoe & Fort William areas. We would very happily stay in Sea Otter Cottage again.

The cottage is worth every penny, it has all you need from a large fridgefreezer, numerous cooking utensils to 2 towels each. The views are stunning from the front door. Made good use of the central heating and log burner, it was December!! Quite a few local pubs have closed for the winter but there was still a couple to choose from within 15 mins drive. CoOp in Ballachulish has all you would need if eating in.

I spent a wonderful week at Sea Otter Cottage. . This really is a home from home with everything you need. Warm, exceptionally well resourced kitchen and plenty of space. The changing views over the loch are moody and ethereal. Perfectly positioned for the Highlands, Isles and Argyll & Bute. I cant recommend it highly enough.

Just to add to the excellent reviews by other guests, this is a more historic building than the outside photo with the modern dormer might suggest, dating back 200 years. It has been beautifully renovated by the owner and is very homely, cosy and comfortable as a result with a lot of character as well as its superb views both to the front and rear.
Aug 2025
Comfortably furnished. All amenities available very well equipped. Off road parking. Beautiful location, situated on a main road but access to the walkcycle way along the loch. Great base for exploring the local area.
Jul 2025
Lovely cottage with everything you need for a short break. Had a look for the sea otters but didnt have any luck. Good level path across the road. Turn left and theres a good pub about a mile away. Staff were really nice and the place was dog friendly. Had food once and it was ok. We did a bit of travelling while we were there. The cottage is well located for Oban to the south and Fort William to the north. We also found a lot of lovely places in between.

Great location for an adventure holiday. Good views across Loch Linnhe from the front of the property and the road outside didn't cause any problems. Didn't want to leave.

A very comfortable stay in a beautiful cottage with everything you need for a selfcatering holiday. Welcome pack, tea, coffee, sugar, cooking essentials, toilet paper all supplied in good quantities. Very good communication re keysentry etc before and during our stay. Though there were no issues at all. The location is amazing with sunsets from both bedroom windows or from the patio in front of the house in good weather. The pebble beach is 1min away.

Sea Otter is a lovely cottage, clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The location is a good base for getting out and about. Weve really enjoyed staying here. Its dog friendly but beware the garden is open, so keep dogs under control. Theres a lovely walk across the road, an old rail track, alongside the loch, perfect for doggies and nature watchers!
Feb 2025
Lovely location. Stunning views. Cosy when cold and stormy. Easy to get organised for days out with 2 teenagers and cookrecover from mountain days in the evening. Miss my morning brew in the little lochside bay already! Had a super week, which was most needed by all.

Amazing! The cottage is lovely and so well stocked, even sharp new knives! I loved it, a real home from home, will definitely be booking again. Location for Glencoe, Cairngorms, Oban, FW was ideal, would highly recommend the cafe at the highland soap company and the scones at NT glencoe centre were the best! I cant fault anything at the cottage

This is a really lovely house in a beautiful location clearly a much loved property. The views across Loch Linnhe are stunning and all the rooms were very homely and comfortable, a real home from home and very well equipped. Expect a little bit of noise from the road but it didnt bother us in the slightest a really good location between Fort William and Oban, with an excellent Coop at Ballachulish a few minutes drive away. The owner Cherry was very friendly and helpful with any queries.

Great cottage, fabulous views of the loch and sunsets, happy to have the extra shower room with two teenagers who take ages in the bathroom! Perfect location for so many places, thanks so much to the host!
Jul 2024
This is a wonderful, comfortable, warm cottage, with beautiful views of Loch Linnhe. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. One small issue is that it is close to a busy road, with fast moving traffic. This doesn't spoil the peace too much, but there isn't a front gate, which may be a problem for people with young children. It was okay for us as we kept our dog on a lead, but just something to be aware of.

We had a wonderful week at this beautiful cottage on the banks of the Loch. The cottage was well equipped and cosy and lived up to its name as we saw otters and seals in the loch. We ate at and visited the Hollytree hotel which was a ten minute walk away along the cycle path and we spent a pleasant few evenings looking for sea glass on the little beach across from the cottage. There is a small tidal rock outcrop a few mins to the right of the cottage along the path where seals and otters can also be seen. Despite the road in front this was a peaceful cottage with fabulous views over the ever changing view as the weather and tide rolled in. This was a great base for exploring the local area and we visited Fort William for the Jacobite train, Oban for a Mull & Iona tour and we also visited Highland fold for ice cream and highland cows which is well worth a visit. Only very minor comment on cottage would be the recycling signage was a bit confusing with lots of it and could do with simplifying. We figured it out in the end and had a fab time and wouldnt hesitate to come back. Thank you!

The Sea Otter was an excellent cottage and location and visited many beautiful places in and around Fort WilliamGlencoeBen NevisCorran etc. We saw Sea Otters from the beach just opposite the cottage and a young deer in the back garden on two occasions. We enjoyed an evening meal at the Holly Tree which is a short distance away.

Absolutely amazing property. Beautiful location. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Owner welcoming and helpful. Will definitely book again.
Mar 2024
Lovely well equipped cottage in a beautiful location over looking Loch Linnhe. I would particularly like to say how spotlessly clean the property is and how comfortable the the king sized beds are. Our little dogs enjoyed the lovely walks from the doorstep but do bear in mind that the property is close to a main road and the gardens are not completely sealed so supervision of pets is required. The woodburner was great for the cooler evenings but even without, the cottage was warm and cosy. We shall look forward to returning

Thought this property had 2 superking beds but they wasnt. My mistake' Very dirty but was given 50 as a good will jesture.

The cottage was beautiful, decorated lovely, it was big and spacious. It was central enough to everything we wanted. We spent every evening cooking at home and chilled out by the fire. The garden was perfect for the dogs.the owner made sure I had her contact details and send me the exact location of the cottage and provided any information I needed.

Great week at Sea Otter cottage, with everything we needed for our stay there. Wouldnt change a thing in the spacious immaculate cottage! Didnt see the otters but spent a lot of evenings down on the shoreline. Our Sea Labrador growled angrily a few times, at the waters edge, at what turned out to be seals coming to see what we were doing in their loch. Waking to snow on the peaks across the bay was a real treat and the evening orange and pink skies making the bracken look on fire I would never tire of. Great location with everything you need close by making it an ideal base to our days out. Would highly recommend.
